Nika Leskovar Petelinek - Documentary photographer preserving the little pieces of home.
My journey began in Wales, where I studied photography, but I found true inspiration back home in Slovenia. Every time I returned, I started chasing the tiny fragments of everyday life through my lens: morning coffee, farm chores, the quiet moments that time is slowly erasing.
Living abroad taught me just how fragile those moments are. I realised that home isn’t just a place, it’s an identity we need to hold on to before it slips away. That’s how the project ‘Grandma’s Stories’ was born.
Now I invite families to let me capture authentic, unposed portraits of your elders in the place they love most - their home. No staging, no posing. Just you, your loved ones, and the ordinary magic you share: coffee together, lunch at the table, daily routines, or a slow walk outside.
Why me?
Because I know what it’s like to be an ‘outside observer’ of my own home.
Because I understand that time doesn’t stop - but we can catch it.
And because I truly believe the stories of our parents and grandparents are the most precious legacy we can leave for our children.

I’d love to hear about your family and the quiet moments you want to keep forever.
